The Client & Initial Challenge

I partnered with a prominent U.S. appliance repair company experiencing a communication gap within their operations. With over 18 primarily English-speaking dispatchers, there was a critical need for standardized, clear, and effective training. The immediate challenge was to create foundational training for their dispatch team to streamline operations and improve customer service, specifically focusing on core responsibilities and the critical impact of their role.

The Solution

I designed and developed a targeted mini-lesson, “Dispatcher Fundamentals,” using Articulate Rise. The solution focused on:

  1. Welcome & Role Introduction: Clearly defining the dispatcher’s position within the company.

  2. Core Responsibilities: Outlining daily tasks from call handling to job closure.

  3. Impact & Importance: Emphasizing how the dispatcher role directly influences customer experience, technician efficiency, and company reputation.

  4. Interactive Knowledge Checks: Incorporating scenario-based questions with detailed feedback to reinforce learning and simulate real-world decision-making.

The Process

My approach leveraged instructional design principles to create an engaging and effective learning experience:

  1. Content Analysis & Structuring: Translated client’s operational needs and existing guidelines into clear, actionable learning objectives and structured content modules.

  2. Authoring Tool Selection: Chose Articulate Rise for its responsive design capabilities, ease of navigation, and ability to present content cleanly across devices.

  3. Interactive Design: Integrated Accordion and Flip Card interactions to break down complex information into digestible segments, complemented by engaging imagery.

  4. Formative Assessment: Developed scenario-based knowledge checks with immediate, detailed feedback to allow learners to practice decision-making in a safe environment.

  5. Refinement: Iterated on content and feedback mechanisms to ensure clarity, relevance, and learner engagement.
