The Challenge
A wellness coach wanted to enhance her clients’ understanding of emotional well-being. Traditional text-based resources lacked engagement and failed to encourage deep reflection. She needed a visually compelling, interactive learning experience that would:
- Encourage self-reflection through meaningful emotional exploration
- Make emotional intelligence engaging with scenario-based storytelling
- Empower learners to take control of their emotional regulation strategies
The Solution
To create a compelling learning experience, I designed a photo-driven, interactive eLearning lesson that brings emotions to life through storytelling, self-guided discovery, and visual engagement. Learners:
- Select an emotion from an interactive Emotion Wheel
- Engage with relatable scenarios illustrating real-life emotional challenges
- Reflect on personal experiences with guided introspective prompts
- Discover effective coping strategies and apply them in everyday life
This self-paced approach allows learners to connect personally with the content while ensuring a highly interactive, visually engaging experience.
The Process
Step 1: Action Mapping & Planning
✔ Defined client goals, target audience, and desired learning outcomes.
✔ Researched Plutchik’s Wheel of Emotions and effective emotional regulation techniques.
Step 2: Storyboarding & Visual Design
✔ Created detailed storyboards for each emotion, mapping learner interactions.
✔ Sourced and designed photo mosaics to enhance visual storytelling.

Step 3: eLearning Development
✔ Developed the interactive Emotion Wheel in Articulate Storyline.
✔ Built branched navigation paths for learner-driven exploration.
✔ Integrated self-assessment prompts to encourage deep reflection.
Step 4: Review & Testing
✔ Conducted client review and pilot testing with real learners.
✔ Refined based on feedback to improve engagement and usability.
Step 5: Launch & Integration
✔ Delivered a SCORM-compliant module for seamless integration into the client’s website and learning platform.
The Results

The wellness coach found the module to be a powerful, engaging addition to her program. Clients reported a stronger connection to emotional intelligence topics than with previous text-based materials.
